Cyrus
Cyrus is around 7 years old. He is a very loving dog and completely housebroken; however, he needs an alpha human. He does well being left alone for a few hours and sleeps wonderfully thru the night. Cyrus likes to play ball and loves having his belly rubbed. He does have some resource guarding with food or a bone and and doesn't like to be bothered while sleeping and will bark or growl when startled. For that reason, we don't recommend a home with kids, and Cyrus would prefer to be an only dog.

Jude
Jude was recently adopted but has been returned to BHRG. His foster family welcomed him back. Jude is tri-colored, full of energy, and is 3 years old. He was returned to BHRG due to not reacting well with the adults who tried to move him off the couch and tried to make him do things he didn't wish to do. Jude needs strong, canine-savvy people and is receiveing some training to learn how to behave better. He is a good boy most of the time but just needs a family that will have lots of patience with him. Jude gets along with other dogs, but it would be best for him to have no children in his home. Jude's foster family is working with him to improve his behavior.

Thurston Howl
Thurston is a red and white boy who is around 3 years old. He is now getting settled in foster care, and here's what he has to say! "Hello! I'm Thurston Howl or TH to my friends. I am a young hound with lots of energy and a love of playtime. Fetching a ball and chasing toys around the house are among my favorite games. I also need a walk each day for my exercise. I can live with another dog but need a strong dog that can put me in my place. Otherwise, I can play a bit too rough, and I don't mean to be a bully. I can be a bit of a moody dog and do not like to be bothered when I am resting or sleeping. I do have a loud houndy bark that I use to show my displeasure with things that are not going my way or that are scary to me. I can also be over reactive to things that are not going my way. Every morning I get eye drops that I take for dry eye and will take for the rest of my life. If you think I would be perfect for you, let's set up a play date to meet in person."

Turner
Turner has visited a BHRG vet for a complete check up and is ready for adoption. He's a tri-colored boy who is around 4 years old and gets along with kids and other dogs. He rides well in a car, and enjoys walks although he does pull a bit on the leash. Turner is sweet and loving, but he can be a stinker at times and get into things that he shouldn't. Ziplock bags fascinate him, and he will get anything within reach like a loaf of bread, etc. But you can't get mad at him because he is so sweet. He is a good sleeper during the day, and he sleeps in his crate at night. Turner is dealing with skin allergies and is eating special food and taking medication. He will most likely always have skin/allergy issues, but the vet is helping him be as comfortable as possible. Turner is dog door trained and crate trained.
Turner's Sponsors

Vance
Vance is a 3-year-old tri-colored fellow who is waiting for a foster home at a local kennel. He recently returned to BHRG because he did not do well with the older, smaller female dog in the home. He does like some dogs, but he would need to meet them first to see if everyone gets along. Vance can be stubborn and doesn't like to grabbed or pushed to do things, so will need a family with no small kids and one who will understand how to handle him. He does have some great qualities and can be very loving. He enjoys walks and especially loved his previous foster dad. Vance just needs the right family situation and he will be a happy boy. He is working with a trainer on generalized anxiety and leash training.
Vance's Sponsors
- Melissa Legg & Rick Reeves - Portland, ME. In memory of Miss Martha.
