Cyrus

Cyrus is around 7 years old. He is a very loving dog and completely housebroken; however, he needs an alpha human. He does well being left alone for a few hours and sleeps wonderfully thru the night. Cyrus likes to play ball and loves having his belly rubbed. He does have some resource guarding with food or a bone and and doesn't like to be bothered while sleeping and will bark or growl when startled. For that reason, we don't recommend a home with kids, and Cyrus would prefer to be an only dog.

Cyrus's Sponsors

  • Becky Clutter - Atlanta, GA. In memory of Preston Reese Carnegie, my best friend.
  • Eric Herrli & Steven Campeau - Alpharetta, GA. In memory of Daisy, Sherman, Oscar and Sophie.

GusGus

GusGus needs a foster home! He is a tri-colored fellow who was given up because the female dog in his home didn't like him. He is 4 1/2 years old and is visiting a BHRG vet for a checkup. We'll have more information when GusGus is placed in a foster home.

Jude

Jude was recently adopted but has been returned to BHRG. His foster family welcomed him back. Jude is tri-colored, full of energy, and is 3 years old. He was returned to BHRG due to not reacting well with the adults who tried to move him off the couch and tried to make him do things he didn't wish to do. Jude needs strong, canine-savvy people and is receiving some training to learn how to behave better. He is a good boy most of the time but just needs a family that will have lots of patience with him. Jude gets along with other dogs, but it would be best for him to have no children in his home. Jude's foster family is working with him to improve his behavior.

Jude's Sponsors

Ollie

Ollie is a tri-colored fellow who is around 4 years old. He was adopted previously but found himself homeless when his new owner developed health issues. Ollie needs a secure yard - preferably with a privacy fence as he is known to climb chain link fences. He would also prefer a home without small children. He's doing well in his foster home, so we hope to have more details soon.

Ollie's Sponsors

Thurston Howl

Thurston is a red and white boy who is around 3 years old. He is now getting settled in foster care, and here's what he has to say! "Hello! I'm Thurston Howl or TH to my friends. I am a young hound with lots of energy and a love of playtime. Fetching a ball and chasing toys around the house are among my favorite games. I also need a walk each day for my exercise. I can live with another dog but need a strong dog that can put me in my place. Otherwise, I can play a bit too rough, and I don't mean to be a bully. I can be a bit of a moody dog and do not like to be bothered when I am resting or sleeping. I do have a loud houndy bark that I use to show my displeasure with things that are not going my way or that are scary to me. I can also be over reactive to things that are not going my way. Every morning I get eye drops that I take for dry eye and will take for the rest of my life. If you think I would be perfect for you, let's set up a play date to meet in person."

Thurston's Sponsors

  • Catherine Bonk - Atlanta, GA. In memory of Lorelei.

Turner

Turner has visited a BHRG vet for a complete check up and is ready for adoption. He's a tri-colored boy who is around 4 years old and gets along with kids and other dogs. He rides well in a car, and enjoys walks although he does pull a bit on the leash. Turner is sweet and loving, but he can be a stinker at times and get into things that he shouldn't. Ziplock bags fascinate him, and he will get anything within reach like a loaf of bread, etc. But you can't get mad at him because he is so sweet. He is a good sleeper during the day, and he sleeps in his crate at night. Turner is dealing with skin allergies and is eating special food and taking medication. He will most likely always have skin/allergy issues, but the vet is helping him be as comfortable as possible. Turner is dog door trained and crate trained.

Turner's Sponsors

  • Carol Sweet - Bowersville, GA. In Memory of Charlie, Gwenyth, and Cowgirl.

Vance

Vance is a 4-year-old tri-colored boy who is currently living with a foster family. He’s a sweet, snuggly pup who’s happiest when he’s feeling safe and comfy at home with his people. He was previously returned to BHRG because he did not do well with the older, smaller female dog in the home. He does like some dogs, so would he would need to meet them first to make sure it’s a good match. He also has issues with separation anxiety and reactivity to new people and strangers. Because of this, he would probably do best with adults in a calm house without a lot of traffic. He may also do well in a quiet neighborhood or rural area where he can enjoy peaceful outside time. He’s on medication for anxiety and will need a patient family who is committed to helping him become a calm and confident pup.

Vance's Sponsors

  • Melissa Legg & Rick Reeves - Portland, ME. In memory of Miss Martha.
  • Katherine McClure - Atlanta, GA. In memory of Dixie & Nellie.
