August 2026 Influx
Since July 27th, BHRG has taken in 22 bassets from 4 1/2 months to 10 years old. Your support provides vetting for these hounds including:
- 11 of those 22 are heartworm positive.
- 1 is in heat.
- 1 has cherry eye.
- 4 have dry eye.
- 2 have conjunctivitis.
- 1 has a corneal ulcer.
- 1 has mammary infection.
- 1 has an unknown infection with a white blood cell count more than double the high end of normal (prayers he doesn't end up in an oncology consult).
- 1 is headed in for a cardiology consult.
- 1 has 4 ulcers inside the ear.
- 14 have ear infections.
- 4 have UTIs.
- 1 has nine bladder stones surgically removed.
- 16 require dental cleaning - including myriad extractions.
- 16 require spay/neuters.
- 2 required overnight hospitalization in the ER
- the majority have hooks, whips, and tapes. 1 was actually anemic, and 5 require multiple rounds of deworming.
