Adrian is a female basset who came to BHRG when her owner entered a hospice program. She is adjusting very well into her new surroundings in her foster home.  Adrian has already decided what bed is her favorite, much to the chagrin of her basset brothers and sister.  She is a true basset... a real professional beggar. She has the sweetest personality and just wants to be with her foster mom.  Her favorite place is laying next to the front storm door looking outside.  She thinks she is quite the watch dog.  Although she is an old gal, she is very spry, she loves her daily walks and is always eager to go.  Of course, she also loves her naps.  It appears there may have been some abuse because whenever you go to pet her she cowers to the floor.  But she loves to be petted and loves kisses.  Adrian would do great in a home where someone is at home most of the time.  She gets along great with other dogs, well at least other basset hounds, although she has no problem telling them off when they bother her.  She needs and deserves love and warmth in her golden years.

Bella Mia came to BHRG from the shelter in Albany. She is up-to-date on her shots and is spayed. Bella Mia, called "Butter" by her foster family, is a sweet, affectionate companion. She wants to be in the middle of whatever is going on with her people. This 2-year-old is playful and lots of fun. She is very cooperative, unusually so, for a Basset! She is housebroken and behaves well with other dogs, kids, and cats. The only caution... she is very food motivated, so keep your kitchen counters clear! Bella Mia is healthy and ready for adoption.

Bells was dumped at the shelter in Thomasville by her owners, and she was so scared. This tri-colored gal is around 8 years old, and she is a tiny basset! She is housetrained, loves women but men... not so much. She does like kids and wants to sleep and snuggle with the boy in her rescuer's home. She is up-to-date on all her shots, is spayed, and is ready to be adopted. Bells is healthy and just needs to get settled in a foster home where she can decompress and get some TLC.

Lily is a tri-colored lady was left homeless when her owner was deployed. Lily is 7 years old, healthy, up-to-date on shots, spayed, and microchipped. She has more energy than most bassets her age. She loves to be outside and to walk on leash and she never pulls. Lily loves the dog park and plays with all the dogs in attendance.  She will run and play with the best of them regardless of their size.  When Lily wants to go outside, she has many ways of letting you know. She is crate-trained and housetrained. She loves to rest in her favorite spot and will claim it for her own very quickly and she has quite a snoring issue. At times you may think she is whining, but at closer look she is resting peacefully.  Lily is very eager to please and will roll on her back begging for belly rubs. She gets along well with other dogs but does give chase to cats who run. She listens so well that she successfully lives with a cat now. Lily has the typical basset bark and will be glad to share it with you.

Marmalade was found as a stray in Marietta. When her owners were located, they decided they didn't want her back. Marmalade is a tiny (18 lbs), tri-colored basset with a tiny nub of a tail. She is just 1 year old and is really playful. She'll make a great playmate for another hound but would like to be the center of attention if she's the only dog. She is GREAT with kids of all ages. She loves her canine foster sister loves to play out in the backyard. Marmalade is housetrained and knows what a dog door is for. She sleeps in a crate at night and is HAPPY (jumping for joy) in the morning to go out for a run and a bathroom break. She is a VERY fast eater and is a very good dog.

Maytag is a 8-year-old gal who came to us from the shelter in Fort Valley where her owner dumped her because she was "too old." Maytag has completed treatment for heartworm and is now healthy and happy. This lovely lady acts much younger than her years and really is spunky girl. Maytag, called "Maysie" in her foster home, loves all people, kids, and animals. She loves to snuggle with her foster parents and at adoption events is a big hit with the humans. She loves belly-rubs, car rides, and being brushed. She even is well-behaved getting a bath and her nails trimmed. Maysie is crate-trained, walks well on a leash, and is very well-behaved. She also appears trained to stay off furniture because she prefers to lay at her foster parents' feet rather than on the couch. She would be fine in a house with or without other dogs, but appears to be very social at the adoption events (she likes to meet everyone!). Please don't be fooled by the star next to her name, Maysie has a huge personality and lots of love to give.

Miss Emma is a 8-year old, tri-colored gal with wonderful freckles who was found as a stray in Lowndes County. Even though Miss Emma may be dubbed a senior, she is a really fun girl who loves belly rubs and cuddles with her foster parents. She loves to paw at her foster parents' legs for attention and even follows them around house seeking out affection. When Miss Emma is feeling extra spunky, she likes to entice her foster hound siblings to play with her by perking her ears, wiggling her bum, and letting out the sweetest basset howl you've ever heard. Miss Emma loves to go for car rides and for walks around the block. Her tail will fly in excitement if you mention "ride" or "walk," and she'll run to the door ready to go with you. Miss Emma is house-trained (doesn't need a crate), walks well on a leash, rides well in the car, and is overall a really wonderful hound. If you're looking for an low-maintenance, affectionate hound, please consider Miss Emma.

Nelda says, "G'Day! I'm Nelda. I'd been in my Forever Home 2 years when they brought a baby home. I'm not good with babies so I'm back with BHRG. HOWEVER, I'm spayed, up to date on my shots, microchipped, bathed and ready to go. I need a lamb and rice diet as I'm allergic to grain, but other than that I have no restrictions. I'm curious and friendly and a good girl who can talk to you. You can see that in my picture! And see my giraffe spot on my hip?! I'm a one-of-a-kind Snuggle Girl. I get all excited when my leash comes out because I really enjoy my walks. I love being alive and have fun with toys and people and car rides and food and belly rubs and ear scratches. I use the dog door faithfully and energetically protect my family from squirrels and chipmunks. My toys and leash are packed and I'm just waiting for you to come see me at just about any adoption event. Let me warm your heart and bring a smile to you every day! See ya soon!

Oakley is about 2 1/2 years old and appears to have been a mom at one time. She is FAST. Her legs are a wee bit longer than the average basset, with paws facing forward, and her leaping and running ability is amazing! She enjoys the company of other dogs, no matter the age. She loves to play ball and was well-behaved in her crate. She is housetrained with a dog door. A little shy at first (probably from her 'adventures') she quickly warms up. Never any licks, Oakley is a "muzzler" kisser. Great for families with other dogs, or kids with a yard. As a 'small basset' she would be perfect for a single person in a condo as well, with lots of love and walks. Here's a short video of Oakley.

Sadie is around 5 years old and is tri-colored. This gal was dumped at Cobb County animal control by her owners. When she arrived at BHRG, she weighed over 70 pounds and had 7-8 large masses - a couple of which had burst. She had surgery to remove all the masses, and for some time looked like "Franken-hound". She immediately went to a foster home to heal and lose weight. Success! Sadie has lost over 20 pounds and has gotten her girlish figure back (although she constantly is looking for food). She is playful, sweet, and gets along with all the other dogs. She is crate trained and housebroken with a dog door.

Veronica is a 5-year-old gal who is tri-colored - almost all black and brown. She came to BHRG from the shelter in Floyd County where her owners left her. Veronica is healthy, spayed, and getting settled at her foster home. She gets along fine with other dogs and wit people. Veronica is very petite. She absolutly hates being in a crate and gets very anxious, so no crates for Veronica!
