Meet the Foster Hounds

Bonded Pairs
The following bassets are bonded pairs who must be adopted together. They could be littermates or related in another way; however, attempts to separate them have failed, so they must find a forever home who will love them both. If your family spends frequent amounts of time away from home, please consider adopting a bonded pair so they can keep each other company while you're not around.

Sprig & Tripp were found somewhere near Wrens/Avera GA by a postman. They are either brothers or father/son... both are active, very sweet and affectionate. These two red & white fellows were definitely house dogs, were well cared for, and don't really show any signs of abuse. And both are housetrained! They get along very well with the other basset and the three cats in their foster home. B.B. the cat has taught them to respect personal space. Sprig and Tripp do well with kids too but have not been exposed to tiny ones. They both know some basic commands. These two are very co-dependent - like to eat, play, and sleep together. They really need to be kept together if at all possible as they have severe separation anxiety if the are apart for even a very short time. They are very cute together - Sprig rests his head on Tripp when they sleep and they love to wrestle and play. They are both 5 to 7 years old and weigh in at around 50 lbs each. What more could anyone want from a great pair of hounds?

Foster Basset Hounds
These basset hounds have been rescued by Basset Hound Rescue of Georgia, Inc. and are available for adoption. They are in the care of volunteer foster families or are being boarded at a vet's office or kennel until a foster home becomes available. If you are considering adopting one of our bassets, please review our adoption process and submit an adoption application. A complete adoption application is required before the foster families will be put in touch with you.

Owner Referrals
These dogs reside with their owners while waiting for a new home. An adoption application is required before the basset's owner will be put in touch with you. If the basset is in the care of another rescue, their adoption procedures must be followed. Otherwise the standard BHRG adoption fee is required. BHRG cannot vouch for the temperament or health of these hounds since they are not in the care of one of our foster homes, but vet records will be provided.
